چکیده

System-identification methods compose a mathematical model, or series of models, from measurements of inputs and outputs of dynamic systems. The extracted models allow the characterization of the response of the overall aircraft or component subsystem behavior, such as actua-tors and on-board signal processing algorithms. This paper discusses the use of frequency-domain system-identification methods for the development and integration of aircraft flight-control systems. The extraction and analysis of models of varying complexity from nonpara-metric frequency-responses to transfer-functions and high-order state-space representations is illustrated using the Comprehensive Identification from FrEquency Responses (CIFER ®) system-identification facility. Results are presented for test data of numerous flight and simulation programs at the Ames Research Center including rotorcraft, fixed-wing aircraft, advanced short takeoff and vertical landing (ASTOVL), vertical/short takeoff and landing (V/STOL), tiltrotor aircraft, and rotor experiments in the wind tunnel. Excellent system characterization and dynamic response prediction is achieved for this wide class of systems. Examples illustrate the role of system-identification technology in providing an integrated flow of dynamic response data around the entire life-cycle of aircraft development from initial specifications, through simulation and bench testing, and into flight-test optimization.

Optimal nonlinear control of flight faults in manned aircrafts in the presence of fault and failure of control actuato

Control actuators' faults are among the major reasons to lose aircraft control while flights. The plane dynamics is severely dependent upon faults and errors in flight control systems and if the reformed control order is not issued by the fault tolerant controller there would be unpleasant outcomes such as inconsistency and the reduction of system performance and some dreadful aerial accide...

In-Trim Flight Investigations of a Conceptual Fluidic Thrust-Vectored Unmanned Tail-Sitter Aircraft

The feasibility of using a stand alone Fluidic Thrust-Vectoring (FTV) system for the purpose of longitudinal trim of an unmanned aerial vehicle is the focus of the research presented in this paper. Since the fluidic thrust vectoring requires high pressure secondary air to deflect the engine exhaust gases, this research also provides an analytical toolset for preliminary sizing of a suitable sec...

Solar Energy System Design of Ultralight Aircraft for Smoke Detection and Fire Alarm Proposes

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to design and evaluate the construction of a lightweight solar aircraft that is capable of flying continuously for 24 hours relying solely on solar energy. The required energy is absorbed during the day by solar panels, some is used directly for flight, and the excess energy is stored in the aircraft battery for overnight flight. The aircraft will then be ...

Identification of Aircraft Dynamics Using Hammerstein-Wiener Nonlinear Model

In this article, a new approach based on blockoriented nonlinear models for modeling and identification of aircraft nonlinear dynamics has been proposed. Some of the block-oriented nonlinear models are considered as flexible structures which are suitable for the identification of widely applicable dynamic systems. These models are able to approximate a wide range of system dynamics. Flying vehi...
